WILHIDE NAMED ASSOCIATE ADMINISTRATOR FOR PUBLIC AFFAIRS

     NASA Administrator Daniel S. Goldin today named 
Peggy C. Wilhide as the Associate Administrator for 
Public Affairs, effective immediately.  

     Wilhide will replace Laurie Boeder, who joined 
the Department of Health and Human Services as the 
Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, Policy 
and Plans.

     Wilhide served as the Press Secretary for Vice 
President Al Gore from May 1995 to August 1996, 
responsible for all day-to-day press duties.  From 
Nov. 1991 to May 1995, she served as Press Secretary 
to Senator Charles S. Robb.  

     Her previous experience includes work as a daily 
newspaper reporter at the Montgomery Advertiser, 
Montgomery, AL, and the Moultrie Observer, Moultrie, 
GA.  She received a Bachelor's Degree in journalism 
with a political science minor from Auburn University, 
Auburn, AL, in 1981.
